When a mute is required, there is nothing like the sound of leather...for the player and for the audience. Rubber, plastic, metal, even wooden mutes all reduce the volume of your instrument. But they also reduce or eliminate overtones, detrimentally impacting your sound. Don't compromise on sound quality with an inferior mute. Use a Wiessmeyer Leather Mute.

The unique design of our patented leather mute addresses the practical needs of the string player while enhancing the muted tone of the instrument. The mute is conveniently designed to stay on the strings of the instruments at the tail-piece. The design of the mute effortlesstly allows for two muting effects; pianissimo and mezzo piano. Manuevering the mute between positions is always very quick, and easy. Additionally, the inherent qualities of leather allow the mute to shape itself to the bridge and string spacings.

You have a lot invested in your instrument and bowing technique...your sound. When you have to play softly, use a Wiessmeyer Leather Mute to preserve the vibrant and glorious tone of your instrument.

Our mute is ideally suited for orchestra, chamber music, accompanying vocalists, jazz/swing sound, musical passages where rapid muting/unmutting is required, and practices.
